Planning on Taking the SAT or ACT (Again or for the First Time)?

The registration deadline for the November 5, 2016 SAT is Friday, October 7. The late deadline (extra fees and having to take the test far from your home will probably be involved) is October 18 for mailed applications, and October 25 for online or phone registration. October 25 is also the deadline for changes. See the official SAT deadline page for
https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/register/dates-deadlines

The deadline’s already passed for the October 22, 2016 ACT, but you can still register for the December 10, 2016 test.
See the official ACT registration deadline schedule:
https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/register/dates-deadlines

The December tests are probably the last dates you can take the test and expect colleges and universities to accept your scores for your application for admission for Fall 2017.
Some advice for you: Take several practice SATs and/or ACT tests under timed conditions (i.e., do each section in the time given at the beginning of each section); do at least a few all in one sitting, including the essays. The ACT and SAT are both tests of speed and endurance as well as your academic knowledge and skill; you won’t get your highest potential score unless you learn to pace yourself and use the test taking shortcuts and tricks effectively before test day.
You’ll also want to see the weird “curve ball” ways the test makers can ask easy questions to make them seem hard BEFORE test day, so you will know how to handle them without panicking or wasting precious time. You’ll also know which ones take you too much time, so you’ll know simply to make your best guess and move on. Good luck!
