Hey, college is expensive. Even public universities can cost tens of thousands of dollars per year – UC Berkeley costs approximately $33,092 per year to attend in total costs, for academic year 2014-2015, according to Berkeley’s own website: http://admissions.berkeley.edu/costofattendance .

One resource you may find helpful is Peterson’s Scholarships, Grants & Prizes, a book that lists “millions of awards worth billions of dollars from private sources.” I got a copy of the 2013 edition from the Brisbane, CA branch of the San Mateo County Public Library for 10 cents. I paid with a dime I found on the street before a tutoring session I had there. You can find the book at your local library, online, or at most bookstores.
